Pirates of the Chesapeake!

First off - Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! To celebrate this important day, Arlene wanted to spend the day in Annapolis, Maryland, on the water and feast on some crabs. We took the boys to Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake for a pirate cruise around the bay. Noah loved it! Afterwards, we feasted on some blue crab at Mike's Crabhouse.

For these photos I used my 35mm Yashica film camera with Portra 800. Now I got a little anxious to get them developed and went to Walgreens. You'll notice the "not-so-high" quality of the scans...I'll probably take them to a different lab to get better quality scans.  Anyway check them out below - these are straight out of the camera.

More film photos from Napa Valley and Sonoma County

If you've noticed I've been posting less frequently. It's been pretty busy on my end.

As some of you know I've been debating whether or not to get a medium format film camera or a full frame digital one. I've been eyeing a used Mamiya 645 on the film side and the Nikon D800. Both have pros and cons, but I have to say I really enjoy film on so many different levels - like waiting to get prints and scans back to see how my photos turned out. Regardless if it's film or digital, I enjoy making photos that preserve a moment in time (pretty cheesy). For this post, here are some photos I made with my Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 film camera shot with Kodak Portra 400 and developed by Richard Photo Lab (had to see what all the buzz was about RPL - I'm a believer now). The photos below weren't post processed, cropped or leveled. I wanted to share with you all what results you can get with a 35mm film camera.

Photo locations include: Joseph Phelps Winery, Spottswoode Winery, Gott's Roadside, deLorimier Winery and downtown Healdsburg, CA.

Night at CitiField - Queens, New York

This past weekend Arlene planned a trip to CitiField in Queens, NY, to watch my beloved Mets. Along with her sister, our brother-in-law and cousins, we planned a little food crawl around the stadium. This included having a burger at The Shake Shack, tacos at El Verano Taqueria and frites at Box Frites. We tried to fit in ribs from Blue Smoke, but they ran out. The highlight was definitely my double Shake Shack burger and cheese fries. Aside from the food, CitiField is a great ballpark to watch a game. BTW, the Mets won!!! Here are some photos below.

Tiffany's Birthday Celebration : Washington, DC

On Saturday I had the chance to photograph Tiffany's roaring 20's theme birthday celebration! Hands down, this was one of the best birthday parties I've ever been to. Before the festivities started, I did a quick photo shoot with Tiffany and her loved ones. Check out the photos below - Happy Birthday Tiffany!

Kimberly + Randy : Napa Valley Engagement Shoot

Congratulations to Kimberly and Randy on their engagement. A few weeks ago I had a chance to photograph this fun couple in wine country. I was out there for a reunion with some of my closest friends. With Kimberly and Randy newly engaged, we decided to do some quick photo shoots with the vines. Check out this stylish and hip couple below. Locations include Joseph Phelps Winery, Spottswoode Winery and Benovia Winery.

For all you film photogs out there most of the photos were made using what I call the trifecta process.  That includes shooting with Zeiss glass, Kodak Portra 400 film and scans done by Richard Photo Lab.
