Escaño Family Photo Session - Old Town Alexandria, VA

When my friend Therese (AKA Wit Wit) asked me to take photos of her family, I couldn't resist. They're leaving the DC area soon and I wanted to photograph them in their current home town of Alexandria. I had a great time photographing her, Jude, Max and baby Blaise in Old Town.

Wedding Tea Ceremony

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to second shoot a wedding for the talented Akins Lawal. He is one of the best photographers I know and one of the reasons I started shooting weddings. The wedding was a traditional Chinese/Vietnamese wedding which included a Tea Ceremony. I made this photo below of the grandmother giving her blessing to the couple. While I was taking the photo, I felt the moment as I was watching this proud elder pass along her wisdom and blessings to the young couple.

I'll have more photos of this wedding in the near future.

Joann + Gabe: DC Engagement Shoot

Last Sunday was one of the hottest days of the year and Joann & Gabe were troopers making this the steamiest shoot I've done to date.  I had the pleasure of photographing my long time friend's engagement shoot at the Tidal Basin near the FDR Memorial.  To cool off we ended up at the Dairy Godmother in Del Ray located in Alexandria, VA.

Congrats Joann & Gabe! So happy for you guys!

Kimberly + Bill : DC Engagement Photo Shoot

On one of the windiest days in DC, I did a shoot with Kimberly and Bill to make some engagement photos.  We made our way through Georgetown and U Street for some nice back drops. They were troopers braving the wind and cold to get some great shots. Congrats to this fun couple!

Amsterdam Falafel Shop

Wanted to pay homage to my new favorite cheap eats spot in the city -- Amsterdam Falafel Shop.  I would stop by here every Tuesday evening in Adams Morgan before my photography class.  If you like simple, clean food and only have a couple of bucks in your wallet this place is a must.  You can order a freshly made (fried) falafel and top it off with various toppings which include fried eggplant, hummus, tahini sauce and others.  Definitely check it out if you're in the area.
