Kimberly + Randy : Napa Valley Engagement Shoot

Congratulations to Kimberly and Randy on their engagement. A few weeks ago I had a chance to photograph this fun couple in wine country. I was out there for a reunion with some of my closest friends. With Kimberly and Randy newly engaged, we decided to do some quick photo shoots with the vines. Check out this stylish and hip couple below. Locations include Joseph Phelps Winery, Spottswoode Winery and Benovia Winery.

For all you film photogs out there most of the photos were made using what I call the trifecta process.  That includes shooting with Zeiss glass, Kodak Portra 400 film and scans done by Richard Photo Lab.

Barrel Tasting in Sonoma County, California

I finally made it back from another awesome trip to Napa and Sonoma this morning. I spent a long weekend with friends catching up over food and wine...and more food and wine. Below are pictures from the annual Wine Road Barrel Tasting event in Sonoma County. We had an opportunity to taste wines from the barrel and compare them to current releases. This is a great way to buy futures...and hang with friends. In one day we visited five wineries in all which included Hook & Ladder Winery, Harvest Moon, Sunce Winery, Inman Winery and Benovia Winery. This is something everyone should consider at least one, if not every year ;).

This is the first time I used the new Kodak Portra 400 for all you film junkies out there. Super light sensitive film, but love the results. I used Walgreens for scanning so they're not the best quality scans.

More photos to come from this awesome weekend!

Frying Pan Farm Park - Herndon, VA

One of the best perks about living in the DC area as a parent is all the free stuff you can do with your kids. The museums, zoo, and local farms are all free for your kids to explore. This past Saturday we took our kids and my sister's kids to Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon. It's a working farm where children can run around and pet the animals. It has a playground too and a picnic area to enjoy some outdoor eats.

I had fun making these photos below. I used Kodak Portra 160 NC and rated it at an ISO of 50. Learned one thing though, it's tough using manual focus on children. You can't get them to sit still long enough :).
