Family Vacation - Cape Elizabeth, Maine

The family and I are finally back from a fun-filled week in New England. We spent the week eating tons of lobster and checking out several lighthouses. Here are some photos of an afternoon we spent at the Portland Head Light (Lighthouse), which is the most photographed and oldest lighthouse in America. I shot these with Kodak Portra 400 and was impressed by how rich the colors came out. I overexposed most of the photos by 2 stops with this film.

Cape Elizabeth was a great stop on the trip with tons of green space for kids to run around and have lunch. The views of the Atlantic and the Portland Head Light are amazing. A have to admit sometimes a camera can't truly show you how beautiful this place is - you just have to visit. Be sure to check back soon for more photos from Maine and Boston.

First roll of Ilford B&W 3200 film - Mae's Birthday

So here are some photos from my first roll of Ilford 3200 black and white film. I shot these during a night out to celebrate my sister's birthday with my Yashica and rated the film at 1600. I did some research on this film and from what I read it produces more grain than normal to give you that "artsy" look. You'll also notice below a line in the photos which I believe was produced by a piece of grit or sand in the camera. Another thing to note in some of the photos is the exposed "spool" - looks like the some frames were dislodged from the spool. Lesson learn here is that film is super sensitive and to err on overexposing by 2 stops when making photos in low light situations.  Anyway, let me know what you guys think.  BTW, got these developed at Penn Camera...not sure what happened with the scans.

Joann + Gabe Part II : Film

Here are more photos of Joann and Gabe's photo shoot that I did back in July. These photos were made with my film camera using Kodak Portra 400 and I finally received the scans from Richard Photo Lab.  Can you tell the difference from my first post of Joann + Gabe using my Nikon D90?

Anyway, I'm super excited about Joann and Gabe's upcoming wedding! Once again these two were troopers and they made it easy for me to capture the love they have for each other.
