My first film roll

I think I get it now why there are some people who think you can only achieve certain results with film. I'm a believer now. Below are my first photos with film using Kodak Portra 160 NC (expired 2007). I had lunch with the family in Old Town Leesburg today at Fireworks Pizza and made these photos below. My light meter didn't work on my Yashica because I couldn't find any batteries for it, instead I used a light meter app on my iPhone...not bad.

I gotta say that Carl Zeiss lens is a beast. I need to learn how to tame it...it's one powerful lens. I'll post more from my first roll tomorrow.

Fantastic work! I love the third shot on the right, it's perfect! If you don't mind.. what was that light meter app.. just curious to see how it works :)

Thanks Cristina! The app is called Pocket Light Meter...it's free, so it doesn't hurt trying it. From the looks of it you can spot meter, which I prefer. I also compared it with the meter on my D90 and it's pretty comparable.

Good work Michael !

I'm happy to see that you are experimenting with film.

How do you find it in terms of workflow?

Thanks Sam! I learned a lot from your class.

As far as workflow, my time post processing has been cut in half. I'm still in search of a quality and affordable photo lab to develop and scan my photos. I'm currently using Walgreens, but their scanning quality isn't the greatest.
